Plays of the week: On, Wisconsin!
Wisconsin’s remarkable weekend against Minnesota earns them three of the top four slots in our play of the week poll.
There’s a lot of women’s hockey that deserves to be showcased, and we want to highlight the very best every week.
Each week, we’ll ask for you to send us the top plays you see in women’s hockey, whether they be from college games, pro games, international contests or anything in-between using the hashtag #TIGTop4 (It helps us a lot if you include pictures or GIFs of the play).
From the picks you send us, we’ll select our top four, and then it’s up to you to vote for the best women’s hockey play of the week on our Twitter. Here are the top plays after this week’s vote:
4. Annie Pankowski’s phenomenal finish
So, uh, Wisconsin had a pretty good weekend, huh?
We try really hard to shake things up in the Top 4 vote every week, but if we’re being honest, we probably could have made two Top 4 polls made entirely of Wisconsin plays, they were that good against Minnesota this weekend (sorry, Minnesota. We know you won the first game).
Finishing last in the poll this week was Annie Pankowski’s

3. T.T. Cianfarano’s milestone marker
Hey, Quinnipiac made the Top 4 this week! waves
We had a couple of milestones this week, the first of which was Cianfarano’s 100th career point in the waning seconds of a dominant 6-1 win against RPI.
Cianfarano picked up the rebound that bounced nearly right to her, lunged towards the net and managed to tuck it safely behind the goaltender to earn her 100th point as a Bobcat. Congrats, Cianfarano!

2. Nurse’s historic hat trick
...Aaaaaaaand we’re back to Wisconsin again.
Until last weekend, the Badgers had NEVER scored a hat trick against their Minnesotan rivals. Sarah Nurse had something to say about that.
She picked up three goals IN TWO PERIODS OF PLAY to account for half of Wisconsin’s goals through two frames.

1. Roque’s ridiculous pass
JUST WATCH THE CLIP BEFORE YOU READ ANYMORE. JUST WATCH IT. MULTIPLE TIMES.

Now, was it offsides? Probably Maybe. But the skill you have to have to know where your teammate is and make a behind-the-back cross-ice pass to your teammate going full speed is off the charts, and Abby Roque makes no mistake.
She’s also a FRESHMAN, which means highlight reel plays for the next four years. \o/
