2016 NWHL prospect profile: Sydney Daniels

2016 NWHL DRAFT INFO

Sydney Daniels, selected fifth overall by the New York Riveters, will join her former Harvard teammates Michelle Picard and Miye D'Oench, both of whom were drafted into the league in 2015. She is the fourth Crimson player to be drafted, but Emerance Maschmeyer elected to play for the Calgary Inferno of the CWHL instead.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Daniels finished last season with a team-leading 21 goals and 10 assists. She was named All-Ivy League first team and All-ECAC second team. With 1 point per game and a +20 rating, Daniels proved to be an offensive threat.

Daniels has also played for Team USA, most recently in the 2016 Under-22 Series. She scored one goal in three games played. She also has a silver medal from the 2012 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship.

2016-17 NEWS

In a rough season for Harvard, Daniels is proving to still be the best scorer on the team. With 14 points in 24 games, her 0.58 points per game is a pale comparison to last year. However, she still puts up points in important games. In the Beanpot consolation game, Daniels tallied a goal and an assist to help the Crimson stay in the game and tie it 6-6.

Born on April 15, 1995. 5’8” forward, shoots right. Instantly jumps off the ice with power, size, skill with the puck, and pro detail. Can take the puck hard to the cage, cycle, or handle in open space. Well tuned in all three zones, yet has still been the top goal scorer on her team since sophomore season.
