Brandt sisters become world champions just hours apart
Hannah Brandt won gold with Team USA and then, hours later, Marissa Brandt took home a title with South Korea.
It’s been a whirlwind of emotions for Team USA, but especially for forward Hannah Brandt.
Brandt won her second straight World Championship gold with Team USA just over a week after the team also secured a landmark victory for women in sports when they struck a four-year deal with USA Hockey.

But while Brandt was busy celebrating her championship victory, across the globe, her sister, Marissa Brandt, was preparing to try and win a gold medal of her own.
Marissa, who’s listed on South Korea’s roster as Yoon Jung Park, played in the IIHF Division II Group A World Championships in South Korea just hours after Brandt won gold with Team USA. South Korea shut out the Netherlands 2-0 to win their own gold medal, and little sister Hannah was watching as they did it.

Though neither sister scored a point in their gold-medal matches, we think they’re ok with it considering they now have matching world championship medals to show for it.
The two have a track record of playing on winning teams- Hannah played college hockey with the Golden Gophers and Marissa played college hockey for Gustavus Adolphus, a Division III school that’s been very successful.

The two sisters will see each other in international competition if they both make their respective Olympic rosters for Pyeongchang.
