Brooke Webster signs with Markham Thunder
Webster played for Vanke Rays last season
This morning, the Markham Thunder announced they signed free agent Brooke Webster. She played her rookie season with the Vanke Rays.
From the press release:
“I’ve heard nothing but great things about the players and staff in Markham,” she says, “Playing against the Thunder last year, you could see how strong of an organization they are, and I am excited to join after such a successful year they had.”
Webster is a strong offensive player. She had 26 points in 26 games last season, tied for third among all rookies with teammate Hanna Bunton. The pair also tied for second in points on the Rays.
The 2017 Patty Kazmaier finalist put up similar numbers while playing for St. Lawrence. She finished her collegiate career with 149 points, including a senior season with 57 points in 36 games.
“I consider myself someone that makes an offensive impact. I have always enjoyed scoring goals and being creative to help the team produce offensively, but also understand that defence wins games, so I work hard to be reliable on both ends of the ice,” Webster said in the press release. “I am very competitive and hate losing, so I will do anything I can to help the team be successful. I will bring a positive attitude to the rink, and be committed to being the best team player I can be.”
As a “sports ambassador,” she was only under a one-year contract with Vanke, unlike the typical two-year CWHL player contracts.
