The announcement comes after the departure of former GM Krista Patronick for a job as Colgate Director of Hockey Operations for the women’s hockey team.
Martino, a Winthrop, Mass. native, played for Cornell from 2008-10 before transferring to Boston College as a junior to finish her collegiate career. She had a Frozen Four appearance with Cornell, the season before transferring. At BC, she played alongside current Blades Dru Burns, Kristina Brown, Kate Leary, Melissa Bizzari, and Erin Kickham.
After college, she played in the Frauen-Bundesliga league on ECDC Memmingen from 2012-14, with her BC teammate Mary Restuccia. Martino holds third place in the franchise all-time points per season from her 2012-13 season with the league. She retired from hockey in 2014, according the CWHL press release.
