Massachusetts-native makes her pro debut Saturday with the Pride

Today, Mallory Souliotis became the second 2017 NWHL Draft Pick to sign an NWHL contract, following the completion of her NCAA career. The Massachusetts-native was selected eighth overall by the Boston Pride. Souliotis is expected to make her NWHL debut on Saturday night in Boston against Connecticut. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to play the sport I love and become a part of the NWHL family,” Souliotis said in the league press release.

“We’re really happy to add such an outstanding player like Mallory for the final games of the regular season and for the Isobel Cup Playoffs,” Boston head coach Thomas Poeck shared. “We have followed her collegiate career closely and were glad to be able to draft her last summer. With her two-way play, we believe she’s a perfect fit for our team. We look forward to Mallory making her debut in her hometown on Saturday.”

Souliotis was named First Team All-Ivy League and was the top scorer among Ivy defenders with her four goals and 20 assists in 31 games this season. “My time at Yale has been incredible. My teammates and coaches really pushed me the past four years to improve and help me become the player I am now,” said the Bulldog senior.

Among those coaches was two-way skater of the Connecticut Whale, Amanda Boulier. The NWHL rookie All-Star is on the coaching staff of the Yale Women’s Hockey Team and will suit up for the opposition this weekend as her senior makes her professional debut.

The Pride look to clinch third place on Saturday with a second consecutive win over the Connecticut Whale. The puck drops at 7:30 pm this Saturday, March 3 at Warrior Ice Arena.
