Checking the Box Pod Ep. 2
It's Ep. 2 of Checking the Box - your new favorite PWHL podcast with player agent Eleni Demestihas and writer dude Mike Murphy

Eleni and Mike are back!
Checking the Box is co-hosted by player agent and partner of Cook Stark Hockey, Eleni Demestihas and The Ice Garden Managing Editor and owner, Mike Murphy. Checking the Box will be a monthly (roughly) PWHL and pro women's hockey-centric pod offering unique perspectives from behind the glow of a laptop screen and the agent's desk.
In this episode, we discuss the far-from-transparent nature of restricted free agency, we dive into how restricted free agency and other contracts might work if we have an expansion draft, and we discuss what money is guaranteed when a player signs a standard player agreement (SPA). In other words, what happens when a player who signed a SPA becomes a reserve player?
We stayed under 40 minutes for this second episode but, rest assured, this episode is filled to the brim with oodles of information and a lot of Mike grumbling out noises of comprehension. Thank goodness for Eleni.
Just to keep things interesting, we wrap up the show noting a few things we may dive into in future shows.
