Göteborg HC breaks through with first SDHL win
Here’s to many more.
Göteborg HC made history this afternoon with their first SDHL victory, a 4-2 win at home over SDE.
The win comes almost halfway into their inaugural SDHL season. Despite a trio of early penalties, Göteborg struck first on an even-strength goal from forward Hanna Sköld at 13:30 in the first frame.

Margot Möllersten made it 2-0 for Göteborg early in the second, followed by a shorthanded tally from Kirstine Eberhardt for a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes.
SDE pushed for the rally in the third period. British rookie Leanne Ganney cut the deficit to 3-1 with a shorthanded goal after Emma Forsgren was called for a slash at 45:20. Göteborg’s Caitlin Gilligan converted on the Forsgren penalty 30 seconds later. Devon Moir scored a power play goal for SDE when Göteborg’s Möllersten took a seat for kneeing, but they were unable to make up the remaining difference and Göteborg took the win, 4-2.
Although their first SDHL season hasn’t been without its adversity, getting the first win is a boost and a step in the right direction for Göteborg. Check out the team celebrating on Instagram:
