Lauren Williams Named Assistant Coach for PWHL New York
PWHL New York adds Lauren Williams to coaching staff.
PWHL New York announced Tuesday they hired Lauren Williams as an Assistant Coach.
Williams, the youngest coach in PWHL history, joins new coaching hires Greg Fargo and Josh Sciba as PWHL New York looks to bounce back from a last-place finish last season.
"Lauren brings not only her experience as a player and assistant coach but also her unique approach in mental preparation and performance... Her background, personality, and approach will bring us closer to achieving our full potential," PWHL New York General Manager Pascal Daost said about the new hire.
Williams was the assistant coach for the Mount Royal University Cougars in Calgary, AB, for the 2023-2024 USports season. Prior to joining the Cougars, Williams assistant-coached the NCAA Stonehill College Skyhawks women's team in their inaugural season.
She also brings experience as a mental performance consultant for the Canadian Women's National Team.
"To step into this league as a coach represents a full-circle moment for myself that I struggle to put into words," Williams said, "I cannot wait to get this upcoming season started."
Before becoming a coach, Williams played NCAA hockey with PWHL New York forward Abby Roque at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also played in the CWHL, PWHPA, and the SDHL.
PWHL New York finished last in the PWHL inaugural season with a record of 5-4-3-12.
