Mikyla Grant-Mentis Released From PWHL Ottawa; Rosalie Demers Signed
The forward posted three assists in six games played for Ottawa and had been scratched multiple games prior to the release.
Ahead of PWHL Ottawa's game in Boston today, the team announced Mikyla Grant-Mentis was released from her contract and Rosalie Demers was signed to a Standard Player Agreement. Demers was previously on a Reserve Player contract.
Grant-Mentis, 25, went undrafted in the PWHL's inaugural draft back in September, but was signed to a contract ahead of Jan. 1's first puck drop after having an excellent training camp. She proceeded to play six games for Ottawa, posting three assists.
Per Elite Prospects, the last game Grant-Mentis dressed for was Jan. 27, meaning she had been scratched the past three games following the release. Ottawa has gone 0-2-1 in that span, scoring five goals as a team. Previous to this season, Grant-Mentis was the Buffalo Beauts' (PHF) leading scorer, with nine goals and 21 points over 24 games in 2022-23.
Demers, for her part, was a depth player at Colgate, scoring a total of 19 goals and 52 assists over four seasons. She spent time in the PWHPA in 2022-23 with Team Harvey's, scoring one goal and two assists over 20 games.
