Grant Salzano’s 1.21 GigaWatts is the first team to crack 600 points, with Moose close behind. The starting budget for each team was $600 and the initial cost of each player was equal to her points last year, so 600 points is the final score you would have expected to get if you’d just spent all those $600 more or less at random. Congratulations to Grant (and congratulations in anticipation to Gregg Cockrill) for being the first to reach this milestone. Whatever your final ranking, if you can get a final score over 600 it means you showed up this year.
Finally, weekly awards
Individual awards
Megan Keller (BC, $64.4, 57.3 SP, 9.3 WP, 11 picks) shatters the record for most points in a week, and Allie Munroe (Syracuse, $32.6, 28.8 SP, 8.5 WP, 1 pick) records our fourth best weekly score ever (and in two games as opposed to Keller’s three).
Maggie Connors appears below in Most Points, Best Freshman and Best Forward, but I should note that fellow-Princeton fellow-freshman Sarah Fillier also scored 7.0 points and is omitted from those awards because of an algorithm. By the way, if you want to see some impressive training, have a look at Maggie Connors’ over-the-stick saucer pass drill in this short video.
Most points: Megan Keller (BC, 9.3 points this week (WP), 57.3 points this season (SP)), from Allie Munroe (8.5 WP) and Maggie Connors (7.0 WP)
Most overlooked (highest scoring player that no-one picked): Josefine Hansen (RPI, 5.3 WP, 18 SP)
Biggest boost (highest scoring player that only one manager picked): Allie Munroe (Syracuse, 8.5 WP, 28.8 SP)
Biggest contribution (highest value of points this week * number of teams they’re on): Megan Keller (BC, 9.3 points * 11 picks = 102.3 total contribution)
Best Freshman: Maggie Connors (Princeton, 7. WP, 33.2 SP)
Best Sophomore: Emily Curlett (Robert Morris, 5 WP, 32.8 SP)
Best Junior: Claire Thompson (Princeton, 4.7 WP, 33.7 SP)
Best Senior: Megan Keller (BC, 9.3 WP, 57.3 SP)
Best D: Megan Keller (BC, 9.3 WP, 57.3 SP)
Best F: Maggie Connors (Princeton, 7.0 WP, 33.2 SP)
Best Goalie: Tera Hofmann (Yale, 4.6 WP, 29.75 SP)
Team of the week
The team of the week places three players in the All-Season Team of the Week, a record. Despite that, the total score is just short of our all-time record of 81.75 set back on October 30th.
Tera Hofmann (Yale, $33.6, 29.75 SP, 4.6 WP, 0 picks), Yale’s starting goalie, makes her third appearance in Team of the Week this year, which is very impressive for a generally overlooked team. Only four goalies have appeared more often — Lovisa Selander, Andrea Brändli, Terra Lanteigne, and Abigail Levy with four appearances each.
All this and at a relatively low total cost of $525.90, showing that even at this late stage of the season some players can still have breakout weeks.
Roster: Megan Keller (BC, D, 9.3), Allie Munroe (Syracuse, D, 8.5), Maggie Connors (Princeton, F, 7.), Sarah Fillier (Princeton, F, 7), Cayla Barnes (BC, D, 5.4), Josefine Hansen (RPI, D, 5.3), Emily Curlett (Robert Morris, D, 5), Claire Thompson (Princeton, D, 4.7), Tera Hofmann (Yale, G, 4.6), Gabby Billing (Dartmouth, F, 4.3), Brooke Avery (Syracuse, F, 4.3), T.T. Cianfarano (Clarkson, F, 4.2), Kristin Della Rovere (Harvard, F, 4.2), Lovisa Selander (RPI, G, 4.05), Lindsay Reed (Harvard, G, 3.55)
Score: 81.4
Cost: 525.90
Although she didn’t make Team of the Week, stick tap to Alina Mueller for this:
With three points on Friday, Alina Mueller eclipsed the 40-point plateau for the season. Alina is the first #HowlinHuskies freshman since Kendall Coyne in 2011-12 to record at least 40 points in a year. pic.twitter.com/FOWjLKz8mn

Trade summary
In a week with only six trades, three of them involved dropping a Wisconsin player — two drops for Abby Roque (Wisconsin, $37.1, 29.6 SP, 0 WP, 3 picks), one for Annie Pankowski (Wisconsin, $42.4, 34 SP, 0 WP, 7 picks). Wisconsin fans can I suppose take this as a vote of confidence that Wisconsin will get a bye through the WCHA quarter finals.
Housekeeping
A few housekeeping notes:
Goalies: As you may remember from a few weeks back, the sheet only pulled in stats for 100 goalies even though as of that week more than 100 had played at some point during the season. I’ve fixed that and all goalies are now included on the Goalie Points tab. This allows us to update our occasional series, Goalies Who Have Hardly Played Any Minutes At All:
- Cornell freshman Kaity McKenzie (Cornell, $3.7, 0.05 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks) got to play the last period against Union in the 7-0 win on 2/1. She also changed her name of record from Kaitlyn to Kaity, which makes her a Spreadsheet Wrinkle Twofer. For next year, note that Marlene Boissonnault (Cornell, $31.9, 22.3 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks) is graduating but sophomore Lindsay Browning (Cornell, $7.3, 6.95 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks) looks more likely to be Cornell’s starter.
- Emma May (Minnesota, $0, 0 SP, 0 picks) is the only goalie to have played any minutes but seen zero shots. Impressively, she actually managed this in eleven minutes over a total of two games, the 7-2 and 7-1 victories over Ohio State on 1/25 and 1/26.
- The goalie who’s played most minutes and has no goals against is BC’s Molly Barrow (BC, $3.9, 1.55 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks), who played the whole game against Holy Cross on 11/25./
We also need to create a new series, Goalies who were credited with a shutout for fantasy purposes but didn’t actually get one.
- Kristen Campbell (Wisconsin, $37.4, 27.7 SP, 0 WP, 5 picks) didn’t allow any goals against Lindenwood in Wisconsin’s second game of the season, but the stats sheets didn’t credit her with a shutout so I assumed there was a bug and manually credited her with the 0.5 points that a shutout earns. Of course, there wasn’t a bug: Breanna Blesi (Wisconsin, $3.6, 0.4 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks) played the third period, one of her two appearances this season, and so no shutout should be awarded. I’ve subtracted the 0.5 points from Campbell’s score — fortunately, since it happened in the first weekend of the season, it was easy to do — and the only material effect on the fantasy league is that Bridget Parker’s And Don’t Call Me Shirley now has exactly $0 in the bank. /
Stand by for the next installment of Goalies who were credited with a shutout for fantasy purposes but didn’t actually get one!
Name and status changes:
- Kathleen McNamara (BC, $1.1, 0 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks) has transferred from the BC varsity team to the club team. Her D1 experience has paid off, because she’s been selected for the US team for the World University Games — congratulations to her.
- Zoe Boyd (Quinnipiac, $15.7, 13.2 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks) was initially reported as committing to RIT but actually played the whole year with Quinnipiac. She got player of the game in one of the U18 games in January 2018 so add her to the discussion about why Quinnipiac isn’t doing better. The upshot of this change in commitment is that she appears twice in the sheet, but this doesn’t affect any of our fantasy teams.
- We have another midseason transfer: Allison Rodgers (Minnesota-Duluth, $0, 0 SP, 0 picks) has become Alison Rodgers (Robert Morris, $0.1, 0 SP, 0 WP, 0 picks). Everyone seems confused about NCAA transfer rules, and there was a lot of comment to the effect that she might have to take the rest of the year off, but she’s played a couple of games for Robert Morris in 2019. Note that our other midseason transfer was goalie Allison Small, so you are allowed to transfer mid-season, but only if your name is Alison, although the NCAA puts no restrictions on the number of “L”s you use. (Which Rodgers seems to have taken full advantage of)./
DON’T FORGET: The trade rules change for the playoffs so make sure you read up in the “Everything is complicated” section of an earlier post this week.
That’s it!
Here’s to a great weekend of hockey! I’m hoping to make the Clarkson-at-Harvard game — Lindsay Reed against the Clarkson top line, mmm. Tips / thoughts / feedback to tigFantasyHockey@gmail.com, please!
