NHL Network, Sportsnet to air 2021 Secret Dream Gap Tour stop in New York City

The PWHPA announced this morning that two major broadcast companies have secured the rights to air this weekend’s matchup between the two of its American regional training hubs at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

NHL Network, the NHL’s paid subscription service, will air the game between New Hampshire and Minnesota in the United States, while Sportsnet will provide coverage north of the border. NHL Network is working in conjunction with NBC Sports and MSG Network to produce the broadcast.

Both stations will have the same team in the booth: NBC Sports play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert, and PWHPA member and current pro scout for the LA Kings, Blake Bolden. MSG Network’s Michelle Gingras will be rinkside to cover all the action.

“This partnership with the New York Rangers, NHL Network, and Sportsnet is so much more than that. It provides us with a platform to demonstrate just how exciting women’s hockey can be,” said Hilary Knight, a member of Minnesota’s roster and a PWHPA player board member, in the news release. “The visibility it provides is why we launched the Dream Gap Tour in 2019.”

“NHL Network is excited for the opportunity to showcase this important game in the continued growth of women’s hockey,” Eric Eisenberg, NHL Network VP of Programming and Operations, added in the release. “We’re committed to produce a high-quality broadcast on what promises to be a memorable night featuring some of the best women’s hockey players in the world.”

Live action of the game kicks off at 7 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, February 28.

For those who don’t have access to either broadcast and won’t be able to watch the game live, the matchup will be reaired the following evening, March 1, at 8 p.m. (ET) to kick off the start of Gender Equality Month on MSG Network.
