In a significant moment for professional women’s hockey in Ottawa, the Ottawa Charge announced they will play the Victoire at Canadian Tire Centre on Friday, Dec. 6th. This is the first time the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) will host a matchup at Ottawa’s largest arena, which boasts a seating capacity of 19,153.

The decision to hold the game at Canadian Tire Centre follows record-setting attendance milestones in Canadian NHL venues earlier this year, with 19,285 fans at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena in February and 21,105 at Montréal’s Bell Centre in April.

“We are excited for the opportunity to bring our game to the Canadian Tire Centre for the first time,” said Ottawa Charge General Manager Mike Hirshfeld. “With this being an early-season game, we’re hoping fans come out in full force – we’re going to need their energy when we face our rivals.”

Captain Brianne Jenner is thrilled to play in front of Ottawa fans in an NHL setting. “I’ve played in that arena many times, including in a World Championship setting. Our fans have earned that opportunity with how much they showed up last year. So, if we can fill that arena with really loud fans, I think it’s going to be such a fun environment,” said Jenner in the press release.

The Dec. 6th game will be Ottawa’s third of the season, following their season opener against Montréal at Place Bell on Nov. 30th and their Dec. 3rd home opener against Toronto at TD Place. This Canadian Tire Centre showdown will also be the team’s last home game until mid-January as they embark on a road stretch while Ottawa hosts the 2025 IIHF World Juniors.

Last season, Ottawa Charge games drew impressive crowds. A neutral-site game in Detroit brought nearly 14,000 fans, while Ottawa’s biggest home turnout was 8,452 fans at a sold out TD Place. With Canadian Tire Centre’s capacity, the Charge are looking to set new records and offer Ottawa fans an unforgettable experience.

Tickets for the Canadian Tire Centre game go on sale November 14th at 10:00 a.m. ET on Ticketmaster, with early access available for subscribers to The Pulse, the Ottawa Charge’s newsletter. Season ticket members will also be contacted directly to secure seats before the general sale.
