Coca-Cola Coliseum to Serve as PWHL Toronto's New Home

The move comes after the team played three sold-out playoff games at the arena earlier this spring.

Tuesday afternoon brought the announcement of PWHL Toronto’s new home for 2024-25.

The team will be moving to play their home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum, which has a capacity of over 8,000 fans. The team previously played at the arena during the 2024 postseason, where they sold out three games in round one against PWHL Minnesota.

Toronto previously played at Mattamy Athletic Centre during the inaugural season, where they consistently sold out the 3,850-seat arena.

“We are  excited to be calling Coca-Cola Coliseum our home for the upcoming season,” said PWHL Toronto general manager Gina Kingsbury in the press release. “We look forward to creating an atmosphere that will be a unique and special sporting experience unlike anything else in  Toronto. Our incredible fans sold out this historic venue during our playoff games last season and now we can’t wait to see and hear their infectious excitement again when we hit the ice for the 2024-2025 season.”

Located in Exhibition Place in downtown, the PWHL will not be the only women’s league with ties to the arena, as Toronto WNBA expansion team will begin playing in the building in 2026. The Coliseum is also home to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, a minor-league affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. While the building is owned by the City of Toronto, MLSE, the management company of the Marlies and Leafs, serves as operators of the facility.

“MLSE is very pleased to be able to help PWHL Toronto build on the success of their inaugural season with this move to this energetic and historic venue,” said the company’s chief operating officer, Nick Eaves. “We look forward to the team, and its fans, enjoying many incredible nights at Coca-Cola Coliseum this season and supporting the continued growth of the PWHL in any way we can.”

Coca-Cola Coliseum was originally opened in 1921 as a livestock arena for the Canadian National Exhibition and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. After extensive renovations in 2003, the arena became home to various hockey franchises, while still hosting the events for CNE and the Royal every year.

PWHL Toronto will continue to use Ford Performance Centre in Etobicoke, Ontario as their practice facility alongside the Marlies and Leafs.

The PWHL’s regular season will consist of 30 games per team. However, not all games will be played at the team’s home facilities, as the league will play “neutral-site games” in some capacity.

Season ticket membership information will be released by the league at a later date. Priority access for 2024 Season Ticket Members will be provided.
