Quarterfinal games are set

Who’s moving on against who, and who is out

It came down to the final day of preliminary games to find out the match ups for the quarterfinal games but they are finally set!

A1 Canada v B3 Sweden - Friday, Feb. 11 at 8:10 a.m. EST

Canada went undefeated in the preliminary round to take the top spot in Group A.

Sweden, on the other hand, had to win their final preliminary game in order to stay in the tournament.

A2 USA v B2 Czechia  - Thursday, Feb. 10 at 11:10 p.m. EST

The US lost to Canada, putting them in second place.

Czechia lost to Japan in their final preliminary games, keeping them to the second position in Group B.

A3 Finland v B1 Japan - Saturday, Feb. 12 at 3:40 a.m.

When it mattered, Finland won and by enough goals! They needed to beat ROC in regulation and do so by five or more goals in order to jump into the third spot in Group A. It was the first win all tournament, and it came exactly when they needed it to.

Japan beat Czechia in their final preliminary games, holding onto the top spot in Group B.

A4 ROC v A5 Switzerland - Friday, Feb. 11 at 11:10 p.m. EST

ROC barely hung on to fourth place, despite the margin they lost by.

Switzerland’s fate was determined by the final score of the ROC v Finland game. They were dropped down to fifth place because of Finland’s offensive outburst.

Out

China was eliminated from the tournament. Losing their final preliminary game came back to get them as it opened the door for Sweden to jump over them.

Denmark was eliminated from the tournament. They needed to beat Sweden in regulation in their final preliminary game and couldn’t do it.
