Report: Katie Burt to sign with the Boston Pride
The first overall pick in the 2017 Draft is reportedly staying close to home
According to the Boston Herald, goaltender Katie Burt has signed with the Boston Pride. The Lynn, Mass., native is the first player the Pride has signed this off season.
Burt was the first overall draft pick in the 2017 Draft. She was drafted by the Pride, who received the first pick from a trade with the Connecticut Whale that sent Zoe Hickel to the Whale.
Burt spent four years as the starting goaltender for the Boston College Eagles, finishing with a record of 121-15-10. She also holds the NCAA record in career wins.
Last season, the Pride’s roster featured a few of Burt’s former teammates, notably defenders Lexi Bender and Kaliya Johnson and forwards Emily Field and Dana Trivigino. Should they re-sign, Burt will have a familiar core in front of her again.
