SB Nation’s Women’s College Hockey Division I Poll: Playoff Pushes

We are at the point of the season where it is win and you stay in the poll, lose and you not only leave the land of the ranked — but end your season as well.

1. Wisconsin (29-3-2), 128 (11) — Last Week: 1

• Last Week: No Games

• Coming Week: v Bemidji State (March 3), WCHA Championship (March 4)

An idle week leaves the Badgers on top. Up next is a surprise visit from Bemidji State.

2. Clarkson (31-4-1), 111 (2) — Last Week: 2

• Last Week: W 10-1 v Yale (Feb. 23), W 4-1 v Yale (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v St. Lawrence (March 3), ECAC Championship (March 4)

The Golden Knights took care of business and look to continue to roll against their archrival St. Lawrence.

3. Boston College (30-3-3), 108 — Last Week: 3

• Last Week: W 3-1 v Vermont (Feb. 3), W 6-1 v Vermont (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Connecticut (March 3), HEA Championship (March 4)

A pair solid wins moved the Eagles onto the semifinals again, where they will play Connecticut.

4. Colgate (31-4-1), 95 — Last Week: 4

• Last Week: W 6-4 v Harvard (Feb. 23), W 6-1 v Harvard (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Cornell (March 3), ECAC Championship (March 4)

The offense came alive for the Raiders as they blew by Harvard. Their semifinal opponent is another Ivy League foe in Cornell.

5. Ohio State (23-9-4), 68 — Last Week: 6

• Last Week: W 6-0 v Minnesota State (Feb. 23), W 5-2 v Minnesota State (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Minnesota (March 3), WCHA Championship (March 4)

This was the weekend the Buckeyes needed. With Minnesota State coming back again, Ohio State handled the Mavericks easily and now move on to play Minnesota.

6. Cornell (21-8-3), 66 — Last Week: 5

• Last Week: W 2-1 v Princeton (Feb. 23), L 4-5 OT v Princeton (Feb. 24), W 4-0 v Princeton (Feb. 25)

• Coming Week: v Colgate (March 3), ECAC Championship (March 4)

The Big Red have the distinction of being the only team on this list to have lost a game last weekend, albeit against a solid Princeton squad. Colgate will be their opponent in the semifinals, with both teams seemingly in the NCAA tournament field.

7. St. Lawrence (20-10-4), 47 — Last week: 7

• Last Week: W 3-1 v Quinnipiac (Feb. 23), W 2-1 v Quinnipiac (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Clarkson (March 3), ECAC Championship (March 4)

A pair of tight wins are still a pair of wins when it comes time for the playoffs. Now the Saints will play their rival Clarkson.

8. Minnesota (22-10-3), 45 — Last Week: 8

• Last Week: W 5-1 v St. Cloud State (Feb. 23), W 4-1 v St. Cloud State (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Ohio State (March 3), WCHA Championship (March 4)

Gopher fans breathed many sighs of relief as the team beat up the Huskies en route to another game against Ohio State.

9. Robert Morris (20-7-4), 25 —Last Week: 9

• Last Week: W 5-0 @ Syracuse (Feb. 23), W 4-0 @ Syracuse (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Penn State / Lindenwood (March 3), CHA Championship (March 4)

The shutouts over a dangerous Syracuse team gave the Colonials the CHA crown, earning them the title of Belles of the Ball. They are the last to earn their regular season title, and now get a bye for the first round.

10. Northeastern (17-16-3), 15 — Last Week: ARV

• Last Week: v New Hampshire (Feb. 23), v New Hampshire (Feb. 24)

• Coming Week: v Maine (March 3), HEA Championship (March 4)

Two games — that were not as tight as the scoreboard indicated — and the Huskies are back in the HEA semifinals, which will be on home ice.
