SB Nation’s Women’s College Hockey Division I Poll: Top Dogs!

Welcome to the preseason edition of our 2020 SB Nation Poll. Like the rest of the year it is full of oddities, like the lack of Ivy League school and the delayed start. Since the Ivy League cancelled all play, we will not be including them in the poll this season. We look to start regular season action next weekend but already we have had cancellations due to the virus so we will be watching along side you.

1.Northeastern - 96 (6)

For the first time ever the Huskies are sitting atop our poll. After a great performance last year the Huskies return almost all of their talent which has encouraged our voters about their chances to finally win an NCAA tournament game (maybe even three of them in a row).

2. Wisconsin - 93 (4)

One of the age old favorites for the SBN Poll the Badgers look to pick up where they left off last season as one of the favorites to take home yet another NCAA championship.

3. Ohio State - 74

The Buckeyes took a major step forward last year passing Minnesota in the regular season and then beating Wisconsin in the WCHA finals. They look to build on that and become a regular power in the west.

4. Minnesota - 71

Another one of the traditional powerhouses that has taken a step back of late. Though one shouldn’t sleep on the Gophers as they have reloaded like always.

5. Clarkson - 64

The Golden Knights had to battle a slew of injuries last year but were still able to make the dance. This year with a little luck and a lot less injuries Clarkson looks to get back to the title game

6. Minnesota Duluth - 42

Duluth has fallen down a few pegs in recent years but has been able to stay in the top 10 conversation. Even with the Ivies in play the Bulldogs would be in the conversation but in the current landscape Duluth gets to be a little higher in the pecking order.

7. Boston University - 35

The Terriers were the clear number two in Hockey East last year, though they fell flat in the playoffs. BU has lost a few of their top players but still have a potent team that will test Northeastern and the rest of the conference.

8. Colgate - 23

The Raiders would appear to be back to the form that brought them one game away from a title a few years ago. With a lightened ECAC conference Colgate has a strong chance at that it could make a run.

9. Boston College - 20

The Eagles haven’t had the best of luck of late but added a top goalie transfer and still have Katie Crowley behind the bench. Add in the never ending parade of top recruits to Chestnut Hill and you have to imagine BC will do everything they can to avoid letting this season slip away.

10. Quinnipiac - 17

The Bobcats round out our initial field of ten and look to capitalize on the shortened season
