SDHL Finals Set, Frölunda and Luleå to Face Off
The SDHL's top two teams are ready to battle for the golden helmets.

The SDHL's top two teams, Luleå Hockey/MSSK and Frölunda HC, are ready to battle for the 2024-2025 SDHL Championship.
Luleå/MSSK comes into the finals as the SDHL's dynastic seven-time title holders. They've taken the title for the past six years in a row and finished the regular season in first place with 83 points. On their way to this year's final they defeated Skellefteå AIK in the quarters and SDE in the semis, sweeping both series.
Meanwhile, Frölunda comes into the final as the new team on the block. The team has only existed since 2022 and spent one year in Division 1 before earning a quick promotion to the SDHL for the 2023-2024 season. They finished fourth in the regular season that year and went out in the semifinals. This year, though, they powered their way to second place with 76 points, and they're looking to unseat the champions for their first-ever league title. They swept Linköping in the quarterfinals and beat Brynäs in a hard-fought five games.
This should be a very fun series. Between them, the two teams boast four of the SDHL's top five regular-season points scorers: Petra Nieminen and Viivi Vainikka for Luleå, and Elisa Holopainen and Hanna Olsson for Frölunda. Holopainen in particular has had a strong playoffs: she's scored 10 points (five goals, 5 assists) in eight games, including a four-point night in game five against Brynäs.
The best-of-five series starts March 12th at Luleå's home rink, Coop Norrbotten Arena.
