Team Canada icon Shannon Szabados has her greatness acknowledged by her home province.

Team Canada icon Shannon Szabados has been named to Alberta's Hockey Hall of Fame.
Szabados, one of the greatest goalies in the history of the game and a native of Edmonton, Alberta, backstopped Team Canada to two Olympic golds and one silver in addition to collecting six total World Championship medals. That is a lot of precious metal and it only tells part of Szabados' story.
She is one of hockey’s biggest trailblazers for female hockey and also one of Canada’s top goaltenders of her generation which includes winning two gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.

If the universe is fair, there will be other Hall of Fame announcements coming for Szabados in the near future.
Her accomplishments on the ice should earn Szabados a place in both the IIHF Hall of Fame and the Hockey Hall of Fame. For a time, she was the greatest player in the world at her position and her excellence advanced the game itself.
Szabados wore many jerseys during her playing career, but she'll be remembered best for her accomplishments wearing red and white for Team Canada. For a decade, Szabados was a riddle that precious few had the answer for in the biggest games on the biggest stage. A fierce competitor with unwavering poise, her style of play has influenced a generation of goaltenders.
