On Wednesday, Team Canada announced the roster that will take on Team USA at the 2024-25 Rivalry Series. The teams will face off for Game 1 on November 6th in California.

If you're familiar with Team Canada, this roster isn't overly surprising. The team is made up of 21 players who won Team Canada's 13th gold at the Women's World Championships last season, including Poulin, Stacey, Nurse, Spooner, Desbiens, and Maschmeyer.

Two players will make their National Team debut. Daryl Watts (Toronto Sceptres) and Chloe Primerano (University of Minnesota) are joining the team for 2024-25.

Watts, who was arguably the most sought-after free agent this summer, signed with the Toronto Sceptres. In the 2023-2024 PWHL season, Watts put up 10 goals and 17 points across 24 games with PWHL Ottawa. She plays with a lot of speed and skill, which will help the team stay competitive against a very young Team USA.

Primerano joins the National Team at just 17 years old. The young superstar started at the University of Minnesota a year early after winning bronze at the U-18 World Championships. She led defenders in goals, assists, and all players in points. Primerano was also named CSSL U-18 MVP two years in a row.

The biggest question Team Canada faces in the tournament is age. Ten of the 25 players on the roster are older than 30, while Team USA only has five. Veterans Poulin and Spooner are respectively entering their 17th and 14th seasons with Team Canada. It's no secret that Canada's stars are getting older, so it'll be great to see younger players like Watts, Primerano, Serdachny, and Gosling get their feet under them at this level.

All five games of the Rivalry Series will be broadcast on TSN in Canada. Canada has taken the series two years in a row, coming back from being down 3-0 in both tournaments.
