The Ice Garden is hiring creators
TIG is in the market for free agents! We're looking for new voices to cover women's hockey.
The Ice Garden is looking for creators to join our growing team.
We're seeking passionate, knowledgeable content creators who excel at communication and collaboration. Our ideal candidate would be someone who wants to make an impact in this space with quality work – someone who has a voice. You do not need to be able to attend games to do that, but you do need to regularly produce exceptional work reporting on and/or analyzing the sport. That means feature stories that bring readers to TIG and encourage them to support our site and our collective work.
The Ice Garden is an independent women's hockey media outlet. At present, we have over 230 paid subscribers. Those subscribers make it possible for us to pay our creators, editors, and social team. Our current roster has a blend of newer creators and established voices in this space. Those veteran editors and creators will serve as mentors for anyone ready to embrace this opportunity and make their mark.
To be absolutely clear: these are not full-time positions. These roles come with a small monthly stipend based on a minimum monthly quota and terms established in a contributor agreement. No one at TIG has a salaried position and TIG is not a money-making venture. TIG's purpose is to serve the women's hockey community with exceptional, independent coverage. I like to think that we are helping to build a space where more creators in this space can cover this sport full-time.
If you think you may be a fit at TIG as a creator, please fill out this Google Form.
Our current plan is to accept all submissions until Oct. 1.
Please note that we keep all applications on file for future openings and opportunities. If you do not hear back from us by October 1, 2024, that does not necessarily mean the door is closed. We may reach out to you for future positions or freelance work.
