Saturday, Nov. 17

Boston Pride beat the Buffalo Beauts in Boston, 4 - 1

Nicole Hensley got the start in the first game of the weekend. Both teams came out of the gate flying, in what turned out to be a fast paced, end to end hockey game.

Sunday, Nov. 18

Connecticut Whale beat the Metropolitan Riveters, 2 - 1

Goals

The Whale found their first win on the season while the Riveters struggles continued this weekend. They were without Amanda Kessel, Miye D’Oench, and Cortney Burke, which definitely hurt them. D’Oench and Burke are expected to be back next weekend when these two teams face off again.

Beauts beat the Pride, 5 - 2

Goals

Game two of the weekend saw a flipped score but another game that was just as fast, furious, and fun as the first. The teams traded chances for much of the game but Shannon Szabados withstood 24 of the 26 shots she faced.

Saturday, Nov. 17

Markham Thunder beat KRS Vanke Rays in China, 3 - 1

Markham took two of three on their trip to China.

Les Canadiennes de Montreal beat Worcester Blades in Worcester, 5 - 0

Goals

Jetta Rackleff started the first game on the weekend. She faced 49 shots on the game, earning her the third star of the game. The score could have been worse, but the Blades did a fair job of defending and Rackleff looked strong in net after being injured most of last season.

Calgary Inferno beat Toronto Furies in Toronto, 7 - 4

Goals

Shea Tiley started the game for the Furies. She let in five goals on 21 shots and was pulled after the fifth goal.

Brittany Howard’s goal was her first of her career.

Sunday, Nov. 17

Les Canadiennes de Montreal beat Worcester Blades in Worcester, 9 - 0

The Blades started Mariah Fujimagari before switching out for Rackleff for the second and third period. Marie-Soleil Deschenes got the start for Montreal. The goals came from all over in this second game on the weekend as eight different players tallied goals. Martin’s goal was the first of her CWHL career.

The only thing longer — the list of penalties. At the top of the third period, all 10 skaters on the ice got a little heated behind the Blades’ net. Mélodie Daoust and Demi Crossman were both given 10 minute misconducts plus 2 minutes for roughing. Courtney Turner sat for body checking as well. All in all, 12 penalties were assessed in the third period.

Calgary Inferno beat Toronto Furies in Toronto, 3 - 2

On paper, the Furies looked furiously good. On ice, something else is happening. Maybe it’s the amount of youth talent on the team adjusting to CWHL life. Maybe they are still trying to come together as a team. They are now 3-6 on the season.

On the plus side for the Furies, a few of the Maple Leafs came out to support them!
