Women’s college hockey: week 12 NWHL prospect report

Week 12’s Top Prospect, picking up a goal and two assists, is New York Riveters prospect Amy Menke.

1. Kelsey Koelzer, D, Princeton — New York Riveters

Following an explosive week on offense, Koelzer continued to produce points for the Tigers, scoring her fifth goal of the season in Sunday's win over Mercyhurst. Koelzer also had a season high five blocks in Sunday's game.

2. Lee Stecklein, D, Minnesota — Buffalo Beauts

· This Week: 2GP - 2G - 0A - 2PT - 10SOG - 0PIM

After 15 games without a goal, Stecklein finally tallied her first goal of the season in game one against Boston University. She also tallied the game-tying goal the next day during the 6-5 overtime loss.

3. Dani Cameranesi, F, Minnesota — Connecticut Whale

Cameranesi was sidelined last weekend against Boston University after sustaining an injury during the series against Wisconsin.

4. Ann-Renée Desbiens, G, Wisconsin — Boston Pride

Desbiens picked up two more shutouts against Ohio State, increasing her season total to eight and further solidifying her all-time shutout record.

5. Sydney Daniels, F, Harvard — New York Riveters

· This Week: No games.

The Crimson played their last game of the semester on December 3rd and will not play again until January 6th. Daniels leads the team in goals with five and is tied for the team lead with six points. She also leads the Crimson with 46 shots on goal.

6. Cayley Mercer, F, Clarkson— Buffalo Beauts

· This Week: 2GP – 2G – 0A – 2PTS – 9SOG – oPIM

Mercer is on a four game scoring streak after scoring a goal in each of Clarkson's games last weekend. She has gone without a point in only four games this season. Mercer is tied for seventh in the NCAA with 28 points and has been one of the major reasons for Clarkson's success this year.

7. Andie Anastos, F, Boston College — Connecticut Whale

Anastos has been setting up some great plays lately. After a four point game against Providence two weeks ago, Anastos had a three point game against Dartmouth last week. She had a hand in half of BC's goals in the game, scoring one and assisting on two others.  After a slow stretch at the beginning of the season, it seems that Anastos is back to herself.

8. Sarah Nurse, F, Wisconsin— Boston Pride

Nurse continues to prove herself upfront for Wisconsin. With two assists this weekend, Nurse averages 1.25 points per game.

9. Jenny Ryan, D, Wisconsin— New York Riveters

Ryan finally broke her pointless streak, netting two goals in the Badgers 7-0 victory over Ohio State.

10. Hayley Scamurra, F, Northeastern— Buffalo Beauts

· This Week: No games.

Scamurra is 3rd on the Huskies with 15 points and 11 assists. She leads the team with 28 PIM. Scamurra has been fairly consistent throughout the season, but the Huskies would definitely be happy to see a few more goals from her.

11. Mellissa Channell, D, Wisconsin — Connecticut Whale

· This Week: 2GP - 0G - 1A - 1PTS - 6SOG - 0PIM

Channell continues to struggle this season. Despite tallying an assist this weekend, she only has one goal this season. Her low SOG numbers could be to blame for this lack of offensive contribution.

12. Ashleigh Brykaliuk, F, Minnesota-Duluth — Boston Pride

· This Week: 2GP - 1G - 1A - 2PTS - 9SOG - 2PIM

Brykaliuk tallied points in both games against Minnesota State. She is now riding a 11 game point streak going into the holiday break.

13. Sydney McKibbon, F, Wisconsin — New York Riveters

· This Week: 2GP - 0G - 3A - 3PT - 5SOG - 0PIM

With her three assists this weekend, McKibbon has a .90 points per game average - the same as at the end of last year.

14. Emma Woods, F, Quinnipiac — Buffalo Beauts

· This Week: No games.

Woods ended the semester in fine form, scoring four goals in one game and bringing her season total up to eight goals. She is second on her team in points, assists, and goals. Wood has been a solid player offensively and defensively for this Quinnipiac team.

15. Paige Savage, F, Northeastern — Connecticut Whale

· This Week: No games.

Savage has had an impressive season for the Huskies. She is second on the team in points, assists, and blocks. Savage has been able to consistently contribute on both offense and defense and has been a key player in keeping the Huskies in the mix post-Kendall Coyne.

16. Halli Krzyzaniak, D, North Dakota — Boston Pride

· This Week: 2GP - 0G - 1A - 1PT - 6SOG - 2PIM

Krzyzaniak tallied an assist in game one against St. Cloud State. She ends the first half of the season with a .55 points per game average, already higher than it was at the end of the season last year.

17. Amy Menke, F, North Dakota — New York Riveters

· This Week: 2GP - 1G - 2A - 3PTS - 7SOG - 0PIM

Menke broke her five game pointless streak with a goal in game one against St. Cloud State. She then picked up two assists in game two. North Dakota is hoping their top scorer can continue this when they return from break.

18. Maddie Elia, F, Boston University — Buffalo Beauts

· This Week: 2GP - 0G - 2A - 2PTS - 6SOG - 4PIM

Elia had another slower offensive week as the Terriers split a weekend series with Minnesota. She did record two assists in the Terriers' big OT upset over the Gophers, including the primary assist on BU's final regulation goal of the game. Elia ends the semester as the second leading point scorer for the Terriers and is tied for second on the team in assists. Unsurprisingly, Elia also leads her team in PIM with 36.

19. Sydney Rossman, G, Quinnipiac — Connecticut Whale

· This Week: No games.

Rossman has been an impressive goalie for QU when she plays, recording a .919 save percentage and allowing an average of 1.48 goals per game. Rossman has started in all but two of her team's games this season, although those two games were recent. She has saved her team from losing on multiple occasions and has five shutouts so far this year.

20. Lara Stalder, F, Minnesota-Duluth — Boston Pride

Stalder broke her eight game goalless streak in game two against Minnesota State. Her playmaking ability and goal scoring should make her dangerous in the second half of the season.
