The day women's hockey fans have been waiting for is finally here. The PWHL released the schedule and home rinks for the upcoming season.

Schedule

The regular season will run from early January to early May and consist of 72 games across the whole league.

Each team will play a total of 24 regular season games. Each team will play head-to-head at least four times - twice in each home city.

There are two extended pauses in the schedule. The first is February 5 - 13 for what the league calls an IIHF National Team Break. The second is March 26 - April 17, nearly a full three weeks, for the World Championships.

The schedule also features games all throughout the week, differing from past leagues' schedules. According to the league, there are 22 games on Saturdays, 21 games on Wednesdays, 13 games on Sundays, six Fridays, six Tuesdays, three Mondays, and one Thursday game.

Home Rinks

In addition to the schedule, teams revealed their home arenas for the upcoming season.

Boston will be playing at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. The venue is 30.1 miles from downtown Boston. According to Google Maps, it is about a 45-minute drive without traffic. Looking to avoid traffic? The Lowell Line on the Commuter Rail will be your best option.

Boston does have one game with the rink listed as To Be Announced on their schedule.

Minnesota's home base will be the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The Wild also call this rink home. You can take Minneapolis Light Rail right to the venue.

They also have two home games listed as to be announced.

The Arena at TD Place will be home for Ottawa. Tickets to an event at TD Place gets you on the OC Transpo for free! A shuttle to the venue is also available.

Toronto will call Mattamy Athletic Centre their home. The venue is located right in downtown Toronto and is accessible by subway, train, and bus.

Montreal will be splitting its time between Verdun Auditorium and Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. Both venues are accessible by bus and metro.

One game is listed as not having a confirmed venue yet.

New York will be playing in two different states. Their primary home venue will be Total Mortgage Arena located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Bridgeport is approximately an hour and twenty minutes from New York City. A portion of their games will be played at UBS Arena in Belmont, New York. Belmont is located on Long Island which is about a 45 minute drive from New York City.

They also have three games with no venue confirmed yet.

You can access UBS Arena by bus and train. Bridgeport Metro North Station is about a seven minute walk from Total Mortgage Arena.
